I don't know about you, but I've never seen a moose in the wild. I've seen plenty of deer, but spotting a moose is a feat that has been elusive to many Mainers. Even more rare is spotting a momma moose walking through right through the center of town.

This photo was taken by Amy Devine in Van Buren, Maine and posted The Crown of Maine Facebook page. You may have guessed Van Buren is in The County. Wayyyy in the county. It might as well be Canada.

So it's not quite as surprising to see a moose way up north in Maine walking through a town with only a little over 2000 people.

The momma moose was just strolling casually through town with her two calves. Amy got a great photo of them, while staying at a very safe distance. The last thing you'd want to do is get close to a moose with their calves around. Imagine how you'd feel is some stranger came up to your kids. If you weighed 800 pounds, you'd probably charge and bowl them right over.
