It's the sandwich that New Englanders grew up on. The Fluffernutter. A perfect blend of peanut butter and marshmallow Fluff between two pieces of bread. And today, October 8, we celebrate this New England treasure.

Anyone remember this Fluffernutter commercial?

People from outside New England just don't get it. There are half a dozen videos on YouTube of people trying a Fluffernutter for the first time and most of them make a big mistake by using a generic marshmallow creme. Hey! Why do you think it's called a Fluffernutter?!? Use Fluff!

This guy at least gets it, even if he's using strawberry Fluff. He went a little overboard on it though. What a mess!

In case you don't know how to make a Fluffernutter, here are the simple instructions.

1. Get a jar of peanut butter and a jar of Fluff. We recommend the large plastic container, because this stuff is good!

2. Spread peanut butter on one side of a piece of bread.

3. Spread marshmallow Fluff on one side of another piece of bread.

4. Put the two pieces of bread together, peanut butter and Fluff sides touching.

5. Eat!

Happy National Fluffernutter Day. Enjoy!
