A truck hit an oncoming train early this morning in New Gloucester. The driver, from Winthrop, had to be extricated from the truck and we hope everyone involved is OK. From the Cumberland County Sheriff' Department Facebook Page:

 3/15/2021 at approximately 3:55am, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call from the Pan AM Railways Dispatch Center of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of the railroad crossing and Route 231 in New Gloucester. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a male still trapped in the driver’s seat. New Gloucester Fire had to extricate the male from the vehicle. The male was brought to Central Maine Medical Center via Life Flight. The male is identified as David Ridlon (43 years old) from Winthrop.

It appears as though the vehicle had struck a train traveling southbound. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
