Amtrak Downeaster Will Now Let Your Small Pets Travel Onboard With You
Amtrak announces that they'll allow pets to ride with owners on selected trains with a few restrictions.
According to the Associated Press, Amtrak is set to begin allowing train riding patrons to also bring their train riding pets along with them...with a few restrictions of course. Under a new program announced yesterday, riders will be allowed to bring a small dog or cat on a train voyage that is up to 7 hours long.
The new service is only available on select routes, which will include the Brunswick, Maine to Boston, Massachusetts passage. The Sun-Journal has further details on all of the Amtrak routes that will allow pets.
Additionally, there will be other qualifications before you bring your pet on board. Your small dog or cat will have be 20 pounds or less, at least 8 weeks old, have all of their up-to-date vaccinations as well as travel inside their carriers. And naturally, there will be a $25 fee to bring them along. The service is set to begin on Monday.
