It was a bittersweet decision to sell the business.

Up in Aroostook County, if you were hungry...and I mean, really hungry - you headed to Gammy's Country Inn in Linneus Maine. Steve Graham and Lynn Birdsall owned Grammy's, but when Covid hit, they closed the restaurant. The restrictions on masking and social distancing were too hard to do and run the business.

It makes us feel good knowing Grammy's will be up and running again.

According to the Bangor Daily News, it was built back in 1948. Grammy's is not only well known in Aroostook County, but ask anyone in Southern Maine and there's a good chance that not only do they know Grammy's, but they've eaten there too! Why is this little hole in the wall so famous? Well, it's pretty famous for the gigantic portions. This is a serving of their amazing chicken pot pie.

They originally put the restaurant up for sale back in 2015 for $1.19 million. They drastically reduced the price to $499,900 according to posts on their Facebook page. That's where they announced that there were new owners.

It is with bitter sweet emotion that we announce new ownership of Grammy's Country Inn. It is hard to put our emotions into words. We have dedicated 32 plus years of our whole adult life to achieving a successful restaurant. It took a lot of passion to make Grammy's what it became. We have had lots of people come in-and-out of our lives. They became like our family. We enjoyed mentoring and helping the young minds over the years. We hope we helped you succeed as much as you helped us. You have all touched our hearts in some way. We are grateful for all the support starting way back in 1989. We have had a dedicated team of employees, family, friends, neighbors and customers over the years. We will miss all of you but never forget any of you. It makes us feel good knowing Grammy's will be up and running again. Our tradition will live on and new opportunities will open up for our local community. Linneus needs to be back on the map as a destination. Announcements will be coming soon for employment opportunities and progress on opening.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of this amazing restaurant (who loves their snowmobilers) is very excited about this news. Comfort food made to fill your tummy with desserts that are larger than life. Their whoopie pies could feed four! I'm not even kidding! There was no date given on when it will reopen to the public.

I hope that Steve and Lynn know how much they've meant to all of Maine.  On to the next chapter of Grammy's!
