An Extremely Thorough Review Of The WWE/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mashup Action Figures
There are several times in my life where I have tried to stop buying action figures, for all the reasons that you'd expect. They're expensive, they take up space, and while I'm not above making Storm Shadow drop a Stone Cold Stunner on Batman while I'm on the phone and need something to do with my hands, it's not like I actually spend enough time playing with them to keep them form just sitting on my desk gathering dust.
But every time I try to get out, something brings me back in, and nothing has ever gotten me as hard as the new line of Ninja Superstars figures from Playmates, in which WWE Superstars are combined with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And they are amazing.
He-Man To Return In First New ‘Masters Of The Universe’ Episode In 30 Years At Comic-Con [SDCC 2016]
It's not unusual for San Diego Comic-Con to debut a new episode of a fan-favorite cartoon --- in fact, it'd be downright shocking if there wasn't at least one premiere screening over in the Indigo Ballroom all weekend. When the fan-favorite cartoon in question had its last new episode in 1984, however, that's a little more notable.
And that's exactly what's happening this year. On Wednesday, Super7 --- the folks behind the eponymous magazine and books about Japnese toys who are also responsible for reintroducing the world to Ultimate M.U.S.C.L.E. figures at last year's Comic-Con --- is debuting a brand-new episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe this Wednesday, almost 32 years after the last one.
Sony Is Releasing The Original Soundtracks For ‘GI Joe,’ ‘Transformers,’ And ‘Jem And The Holograms’
I think the record will show that I'm a pretty big fan of Hasbro's cartoons from the '80s, and one of the things I love most about them is how great the soundtracks are. Not just the theme songs, but the incidental music that provides the background for Jem and the Holograms, or that smooth jazz version of the GI Joe theme that plays under the closing credits. Heck, even in the years before More Than Meets The Eye came along and made me stop hating the Transformers, I still had to admit that the music was pretty great.
The only problem is that I can't listen to it whenever I want, but now, it looks like that problem might be coming to an end. Composer Robert J. Walsh has confirmed that he's remastering the soundtracks for the Hasbro shows, with plans for Sony to release high-end versions that will include new footage and artwork, too.
IDW Announces The New, Ongoing ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe’ Series
Ever since it first launched, IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has been too big for a single ongoing title. In what has to be one of the most impressive editorial feats of the past few years, the massive story that was being told over the course of the series was spread throughout multiple titles, weaving through the main title and then splitting off to books like the one-shot Micro-Series or minis like Casey and April - and as astounding as it was that it all held together, I'll admit that as a reader, it was a little bit of a pain to flip back and forth through at least two collections while trying to figure out a reading order.
It seems like they're going ahead and putting everything into one official second ongoing series: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe, which kicks off in August with an issue that features Kevin Eastman and Bill Sienkiewicz teaming up for a brand-new backup story.
McDonald’s Has Launched A Recruitment Campaign Using Anime, All Other Anime Has Been Rendered Obsolete
Oh, you like anime? Yeah, that's pretty cool, I guess, but I've kind of moved past stuff like Dragon Ball and Naruto and onto something a little more sophisticated. Hm? Oh, my favorite series? That's easy: it's called The New McDonald's Recruiting Campaign About A Girl Who Gets A Job At McDonald's And Has To Earn Her Supervisor's Trust and Friendship Through Hard Work And Dedication. It's pretty much the best series I've ever seen.
‘Ghostbusters’ Board Game Getting Kickstarter-Funded Sequel
Last year's Kickstarter campaign to fund Cryptozoic's Ghostbusters board game was one of the biggest crowdfunding successes in recent memory, racking up over 1.5 million dollars from backers hungry for tabletop Ghostbusting action. With numbers like that, it's no surprise that they'd want to follow it up, and today, Cryptozoic announced plans to do just that with Ghostbusters II, a sequel to the first game that's set to launch its own campaign in April.
Nickelodeon’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Meet Their 1987 Counterparts In ‘Trans-Dimensional Turtles’
One cool thing that happens when you have a property that's been around for a while is that you get all these different versions of the same characters, which almost inevitably leads to a team-up. It's something that happens in comics all the time, with superheroes from different Earths teaming up to battle a threat that's too big for the heroes of any single dimension to handle.
It's a little more rare on television, but on Sunday, March 27, it's going to happen to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when Nickelodeon's current version of the team joins up with their counterparts from the original 1987 TMNT cartoon in a cross-time team-up called, appropriately enough, "Trans-Dimensional Turtles." Check out the clip above!
The ‘Lego Batman’ Movie Will Ask ‘Can Batman Be Happy?’
I'm going to be real with you, folks: even though we're looking down the barrel of 38 superhero movies over the next few years, the one that I'm looking forward to the most is easily Lego Batman, starring Will Arnett as the Caped and Blocky Crusader. It's been something I've been looking for ever since it was announced, but now, I've got an even bigger reason to want to see it, because we finally have a detail about the plot.
According to a red carpet interview with Arnett, along with cowriters and directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the 2017 Batman movie will focus on answering one question: Can Batman be happy?
