They were born on opposite sides of the country and are on opposite sides of most discussions, but what makes them different is what makes it work. Woody is from LA. Wilcox is from DC. They joined forces in San Diego in 2003, and the rest is history. (In this case ‘the rest is history’ means they quickly got fired, were replaced by Howard Stern, moved from San Diego to Anchorage and then to Charlotte where, since 2010, the show has originated…and the rest is history…again.) After graduating from Cal State Northridge, Woody worked as an ‘Intentional Vomit Monitor’ in the bathroom at an all you can eat restaurant. He gave up that lucrative career and started his radio path in Palm Springs, CA. He later was on air in San Diego, Albuquerque, Salt Lake City & Atlanta. Wilcox, who graduated from the University of Arizona, worked as a security guard. Tasked with, among other things, monitoring a movie theater making sure gang violence didn’t break out during screenings of the movie “Blood In, Blood Out”. His radio career started soon after in Tucson, AZ and then to San Diego and LA. Chelsea, who was added to the show full time in 2012, graduated from Georgia Tech and spent time as the ‘Nacho Cheese Watcher’ at manager receptions at the Embassy Suites in Charlotte before eventually becoming an intern for Woody and Wilcox and moving up from there. The Woody and Wilcox Show now originates from alt rock “106.5 The End” in Charlotte, NC. As they like to say, “give us 18-24 months and you won’t hate us as much.” Woody’s greatest fear is over-bidding at an auction. Wilcox is afraid of cotton balls. Chelsea once dated a guy named Stuart Turnipseed. You’re welcome.
