Beck, Spoon, David Bowie + More Lead Record Store Day Black Friday Release Lineup

As November approaches, many are already looking beyond their Thanksgiving dinners to holiday shopping. And for us, that means one thing: Record Store Day Black Friday. Today (Oct. 27), the good people behind RSD have unveiled this year’s list of exciting releases, and it includes titles from Beck, Spoon, Faith No More, David Bowie and many, many more.

Among the releases exclusive to RSD Black Friday are Beck’s first post-Morning Phase single “Dreams” backed with a cappella and instrumental versions of the song; the Jesus and Mary Chain compilation, Barbed Wire Kisses, on red vinyl; and Spoon’s cover of the Cramps’ “TV Set.” Likewise, David Bowie will reissue his 1997 LP, Earthling, on 180-gram translucent green vinyl with a tri-fold cover, while the Clash’s 1977 self-titled debut will be pressed on blue split-color vinyl and Faith No More’s debut, We Care A Lot, will be re-released after being out of print for 20 years.

Garbage will issue a 20th anniversary edition of their eponymous debut, and Johnny Cash’s Man in Black Live in Denmark 1971 has been remastered and pressed on white and red vinyl. You’ll also be able to get your hands on a remix of Paul McCartney’s 1983 collaboration with Michael Jackson, “Say Say Say”; a 40th anniversary edition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” backed with “I’m in Love With My Car”; and Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company’s Live at Winterland 68 for the first time on vinyl. And just in time for Christmas, Priority Records will issue Eazy-E’s “irreverent holiday classic,” “Merry Muthaphuckkin’ Xmas,” on 7” vinyl.

A handful of soundtracks will also receive special releases on Nov. 27, including True Detective, Garden State, Sons of Anarchy and High Fidelity. And as we previously learned, actor John Malkovich will release an album of Plato recitations remixed by the Dandy Warhols and Placebo -- among others.

There will also be RSD Black Friday releases from Joan Jett, the Kinks, MGMT, Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets, Nine Inch Nails, Outkast, Ariel Pink, the Arcs, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and more.
