Best Job Ever: Massachusetts Woman Gets Paid to Sample Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
Ice cream is one of the most beloved desserts in America. It is a $6.8 billion dollar industry, for crying out loud! In the world of ice cream, there is a brand name that stands out from all the rest. Ben & Jerry's are to ice cream what the Ferrari is to automobiles, the iMac to laptops, and the iPhone to cell phones. There's the best and then there's the rest. But this Vermont-based ice cream conglomerate isn't getting complacent. Even in the midst of the pandemic, they released 40 different flavors.
Ben & Jerry's needed someone to eat their way through their catalog of flavors and help them rank their flavors. This important work helped ice cream lovers everywhere decide which pints to pick up the next time they go to the grocery store.
They say the perfect job doesn't exist, but getting paid to eat ice cream is as close to a dream job as you can get. The company FinanceBuzz, who was in charge of filling the "Ice Cream Evaluation Specialist" position, was totally flooded with applications, 8,000 to be exact. They finally found the perfect person for the job: Amy Dwyer, a realtor from Westborough, Massachusetts (which I always thought was spelt "Westboro", but what do I know). Amy had over a decade of ice cream tasting experience under her belt, and was ready to take on this delicious side hustle.
After a year of tasting and reviewing (and getting paid $1,000 to do so), we finally have the scoop.
Here are the top 10 Ben & Jerry's flavors:
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
New York SuperFudge Chunk
Marshmallow Sky
Everything But The
Brewed to Matter
Phish Food
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Core
Topped! Dirt Cake
Strawberry Marshmallow
Peanut Butter Half Baked
If Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough came in any other spot but #1, I would be taking that up with Amy. Thankfully her findings were accurate! Check out her full findings here.
