Is Something Opening at Brian Boru in Portland, Maine?
For many who live or visit Portland, Maine, regularly, it's hard to believe that one of the most recognizable spots in the city closed permanently more than six years ago.
That spot would be Brian Boru. The Irish pub that served as a landmark for many visiting the city and a consistent hangout for those that lived and worked in Portland.
For the last several years, the building has simply been collecting dust. Signs adorned the front window of the pub letting passersby know that the establishment was closed for good.
But if you've strolled by Brian Boru over the past couple weeks, it's fair to ask "is it closed for good?"
There Has Been Some Stirring Inside the Brian Boru Building in Portland, Maine
Gone is the small sign that proclaimed 'this pub is closed' on the front of the Brian Boru building. Some cleaning up has happened around the exterior of the building has happened as well.

It's Possible the Brian Boru Building in Portland, Maine, Will Be Sold or Leased
Since the pub closed, there's been a lot of tentative plans and rumors about the building and surrounding real estate.
The property was purchased by MEMIC in 2019. The initial plan was to demolish Brian Boru and create an employee parking garage.
Following the pandemic, plans changed. According to the Portland Press Herald, MEMIC continues to explore 'opportunities' for the real estate site and the Brian Boru building itself.
Could the building be sold or leased on its own? It's possible.
Given the return of the Dry Dock Restaurant after a lengthy hiatus, anything is possible with Brian Boru.
