Cage The Elephant’s First Visit to WCYY a Few Years Ago [PICS]

It was way way back on album #1 that we hung out with Cage the Elephant in Portland. We have the pictures to prove it too! 

So it was 2010 and the self titled debut from Cage the Elephant was recently released. The band had a show in town at Port City Music Hall. Prior to, they stopped over to CYY to play acoustic for some listeners. We had a blast! The band was just busting out and I think everyone in the room that day could see there was a lot of potential in these guys. Something special.

I remember talking with our music director Brian James about Matt Dodge's (singer) style. Brian remarked about how he had a bit of the early Jagger in him. Scrappy, hopping around, antsy, slightly rough around the edges in the right places. He hit that description dead on.

We are SUPER stoked for them to come back to Maine, even if took 3 more albums to get em here! They'll be here in late March with Silversun Pickups, Foals and Bear Hands as part of WCYY's SPRING FLING Concert at the Civic Center/Cross Insurance Arena.
