The planning board just approved a huge shopping plaza in Westbrook and Chick-Fil-A is part of it!

This shopping plaza with Walmart as the only confirmed store will be gigantic and in a former quarry.

It will be a half million square foot shopping center, on 80 acres between two turnpike exits between Larrabee Road and Main Street. It is expected that several more businesses will join the shopping plaza in the coming months.

As for Chick-Fil-A, the new Westbrook location will end up being the state of Maine's second, Bangor will be opening the first location of Chick-Fil-A in the coming months. There's also potential for a third Chick-Fil-A location sometime in 2017, but the exact city it would be located in is not known at this time.

What may strike Maine people as odd is Chick-Fil-A's business hours, as all locations across the country are closed on Sundays so that employees can enjoy church or spend time with their families. Some Maine residents may remember the days when most businesses were closed on Sunday for that very reason. How things have changed.
