Freeport, Maine, Was Once a Hub For Shoe Shopping
Maine has a long and treasured history as a shoe producer and several of the state's best-known brands considered Freeport a retail home for a very long time.
That includes brands like J.L. Coombs as well as Bass. J.L. Coombs closed up shop in 2014 with the Bass shoe outlets closing permanently a few years later. Both retailers left a void for premium shoe shopping in Freeport.
Clark's opening reestablishes Freeport as a shoe shopping destination.
