Has the Black Pearl finally made it's way to the Maine coast? It's unlikely, but you never know.

As reported by The Portland Press Herald, a 12-foot boat was spotted adrift near Raccoon Cove on Mount Desert Island around 6:00pm on Saturday. The sighting prompted a helicopter search, which continued into Sunday. The search was called off around 10:00am, after authorities failed to locate the boat. While losing such a huge investment must be devastating to whomever owned the boat, we guess the lesson here is in better knot-tying.

... But we have to ask - is it just us, or does this totally sound like ghost pirates? Using a search team complete with a helicopter to find a lost boat is like calling in the army to help you find your missing car keys. If it is in fact the risen souls of pirates long gone, someone better call in Scooby Doo and the gang, because "you meddling coast guard officers" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
