There's some good news for Mainers when it comes to the amount of sexually transmitted diseases in the state, according to a new study.
According to Health Testing Centers, Maine is doing pretty well compared to the national average in terms of STDs. The study ranks Maine at number three for the lowest cases of gonorrhea in the country.
There's also good news when it comes to Chlamydia - Maine is the fifth lowest in the country for that sexually transmitted disease.
Nationally, cases of chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea have been skyrocketing since the mid 90s. But Maine, as well as other New England states, have remained in the lowest percentile.
Neighboring state New Hampshire has the third lowest ranking for chlamydia, and Vermont has the second lowest.
For gonorrhea, Vermont has the lowest amount in the country, followed by New Hampshire, with the second lowest.
