‘Deadpool’ Trailer Trailer: Ryan Reynolds Does His Best ‘In a World’ Voiceover
We normally like to steer clear of the “trailer for a trailer” phenomena that results in photos of a 6-second Instagram video of a 15-second YouTube video teaser of an actual trailer. It’s a toxic fad in the world of movie promotion and one we hope goes away quickly, but we couldn’t resist sharing this trailer for a trailer for Deadpool. For one, it’s almost a minute long, and for another, it’s just funny.
Don’t expect to see a lot (or, any) action from the film itself here, but we’re instead treated to a trailer voiceover from Deadpool himself, who is doing his take on the Don LaFontaine “In a world...” trailer cliche. This, as you’d imagine, leads to some great lines like, “From the studio that inexplicably sewed his f---ing mouth shut the first time” and “starring 5-time Academy Award watcher Ryan Reynolds”.
If the Comic-Con footage is any indication, the actual Deadpool trailer tomorrow will feature a lot of action. Reynolds will debut the official trailer on Conan later tonight and we’ll guess there will also be a red-band version of the trailer that will feature a lot more blood and cursing, because what’s a Deadpool movie without blood and cursing?
Here’s the official synopsis for Deadpool:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool opens on February 12, 2016.
