Did You Know There’s A Topless Mermaid In Skowhegan?
Surely, most people don't travel to Skowhegan, Maine for much but a few years ago, these Maine made art pieces were unveiled as the Langlais Art Trail a few years ago, according to Main Street Skowhegan.
The Kohler Foundation states that Bernard Langlais was an artist originally from Old Town, Maine but spent years teaching in the area. Most of his work was created into massive wooden sculptures and some of them around town are already getting weathered.
I can appreciate art, at least I think I can, but I was a little surprised after taking a picture of a wooden mermaid sculpture in downtown Skowhegan right next to a public parking lot and realized it didn't just have ginormous detailed breasticles but a "downstairs," also!
Obviously, the merlady is my favorite but here another if you need some more proof that it's worth the trip. Don't worry, I'll leave something to the imagination and not expose all of Langlais' pieces.
