Don’t Be Sad Klondike’s Choco Taco is Gone – This Portland Version is Way Better

Klondike schmondike. This Choco Taco from Bird & Co. wipes the floor with the Klondike version.

Klondike's Choco Taco has been around for about 40 years and they decided to stop making them. That news was an arrow through my heart!

I vowed to find a local version. I not only found a Choco Taco but possibly my new favorite place for all things taco. It's called Bird & Co. in Portland on Deering Avenue (across from Big Sky Bakery).

Tucked behind the Covid outdoor seating (which is wicked cute) there is this tiny slice of heaven called Bird & Co - Tacos, Cocktails, Beer. Three of my favorite food groups.

Right there under 'Sweets' was what I had been looking for since my beloved Choco Taco was no more. Oh...it's here alright and it kicks the ass of the Klondike one!

You get TWO not one of these sinful treats! Homemade waffle taco shell, pistachios, chocolate, and cookie dough ice cream!

Holy crap are these delightful! Duh. There is NO reason to miss that Klondike thing. So when you go to Bird & Co to get your taco and beer fix, SAVE ROOM for these treats! I'm not kidding. I was having one of those days and this little handful of comfort turned my frown upside down.

I knew if I asked around for a local version of the Choco Taco someone would lead me to just what I needed. I'm telling you - I have found my new addiction and I couldn't be happier!
