Don’t Forget to Breathe as Main Street in Westbrook Starts Huge Construction Project Today

Westbrook is exploding in popularity and it's getting a huge facelift.

As with most facelifts, this construction will be a real pain. But, Westbrook is doing everything they can to help keep everyone updated with what is happening and when it's happening. If Westbrook is part of your daily life, even if it's to drive through it - you need to go to Seeing Orange.

To keep up with the significant growth there are lots of projects and lots of disruptions to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, parking, and possible closures. Westbrook has a ton of projects going on and Seeing Orange is super valuable to know what's happening. One of the most exciting projects is the Virtual Harvest Urban Farm/City Parking Garage. A first of its kind! They will do a unique reconfiguration of the city's largest public parking lot. Vertical Harvest, an urban vegetable farm, will share the lot with a free public parking garage. It will triple the available free public parking, and residential apartments will provide much-needed housing in the downtown area. This parking lot, located behind CVS on the corner of Mechanic Street, will be completely closed down by August 1 and relocated to Saccarappa Park (across from Edwards Block Building) so that there's uninterrupted parking for downtown businesses and residents.
