A Look Back to Maine’s First Portland On Tap, 10 Years Ago
As us craft beer lovers are gearing up for another full day of sampling local and regional craft brews, it occurred to me while coming across some old pictures that Portland On Tap officially turns 10 this year.
Back on January 24, 2015, this annual tradition first poured its way into the hearts (and glasses) of Mainers at the Portland Company Complex on Fore Street. You may remember there was a snowstorm that day but when it comes to Northern New Englanders and their beer, the storm took a back seat and still ended up drawing in over 3,000 enthusiasts. We all sipped our way through samples from 50+ breweries with food vendors and even beer pong on site.
Fast forward 10 years, and Portland On Tap has grown into a beer-drinker's paradise. Not only the biggest but also Maine’s only winter brew fest is back. The 2025 event, marking the 10th anniversary, is set to be bigger and better than ever. Once again at the Cross Insurance Arena on February 1st, we’ll all get together to sample more of the best brews, ciders, seltzers and this year – spirits. Yup, Maine Craft Distilling will join us this year.
Hazy IPAs to light pilsners to rich porters and beyond. Here is a list of who will be on tap this year. There will also be live music during the afternoon session (1-4pm) and a DJ at for the after dark session (5-8pm). For those that want a head start, there is an early entry option as well from 12-1pm.
Cheers to 10 years!
