Axe throwing is one of the coolest and most fun things to do for a date night, group or family game night, or even a solo venture to try something new.

I was very impressed by the activity, and how well organized and easy to score it was when I first tried a year ago.

Well, one family out of Elliot, Maine has turned their axe throwing hobby into a business for all of the Seacoast to enjoy.

For the first time ever (as far as we can tell), New England has its first traveling axe throwing business opening May 7, 2022, according to the company's website. The company's name is 'On the Go Axe Throw', and their concept matches their name.

This family business will bring a trailer with everything you need to throw axes at your birthday party, bachelor or bachelorette party, weddings, and more!

"This is a family affair," said owner Marcia Obrey Adair. "It's myself working in the background, my husband Gano, and one of our boys, Nikolas."

Together, the family is on to something. I think this is brilliant, and it brings the fun aspect of a night out to a local venue, backyard, or anywhere you desire.

The price for a two hour event seems very reasonable at $475. In a gathering with 20 people, that is around $12 per person, per hour. That's cheaper than a non-mobile location. To add an extra hour is $150.

The longer you host your event, the better the rate. For an 8-hour event, the cost would be $1100. In a gathering with 20 people, that would be under $7 per person, per hour.

I think this is ingenious. I am certainly going to be inquiring about a custom event for either my wedding shower, bachelor party, or perhaps wedding.

I love that they travel to you, I think the rates are extremely fair, and I love the family business.

Hearing how the family business started is sweet. Gano, "used to own a landscape company for many years," said Obrey Adair. "So recently after an axe throwing birthday party, he came up with a use for the old landscape trailer...mobile axe throwing..." It's exciting to watch them (Gano and Nikolas her son) work together and bring this dream to a reality so quickly.
