With the state slowly reopening, many businesses are requiring that patrons wear masks or some form of facial coverings.

With N95 masks being rare and even bandanas becoming hard to find, many people are having difficulty finding alternative options. Not to mention with unemployment being at an all-time high, many people simply can't afford the added cost.

Local design company, Expose Design, was approached by some individuals about getting some masks ordered. When Victor, of Expose Design, followed up he discovered the masks weren't going to this particular customer, the masks were meant to stay with Expose Design and given away to those in need.

Those masks are being given away tonight as part of Free Mask Friday.

The event is being held at Deering High School by the tennis courts from 5 pm to 6:30 pm or until supply runs out. This is a drive-thru event to encourage social distancing.

These coverings are no replacement for N95 masks or masks with filters but they're necessary for situations when social distancing cannot occur. These masks will help you do your part to not spread the virus to others.

Downtown Portland Under 'Stay at Home' Order

Thanks to Jeremy Sherman and Lauren Webster who were behind the funding of the masks and to Expose Design for making this all happen.
