Popular Scarborough, Maine, BBQ Restaurant Has Closed Permanently

For many in Maine, a visit to Pine Point in Scarborough is something they do every summer. Perhaps it's a day sprawled out on the beach or a chance or a chance to grab a bite to eat at one of the great restaurants in the neighborhood.

One of those restaurants for years has been serving up great barbecue food while also offering indoor and outdoor seating. But if you plan on visiting Pine Point this summer, you won't find The Garage any longer.

The Garage Barbecue Restaurant in Scarborough, Maine, Has Closed Permanently

On their website, the owners of the Garage BBQ Restaurant penned a note thanking patrons for the visits over the last 8 years. They also mentioned they needed to focus their time and energy on both their family and other ventures around Pine Point.

Those ventures include the popular Bait Shed restaurant just down the road from the Garage as well as Bayley's Lobster Pound and Stern Seafood. The family will also honor any leftover Garage BBQ gift cards at any of their other businesses.

The Garage Restaurant Space in Scarborough, Maine, Won't Be Empty For Long

Given the prime location on E Grand Avenue in Scarborough, the space that once housed the Garage Restaurant wasn't going to stay empty for long. A new Spanish-style restaurant plans to open soon featuring a menu filled with tapas.

How long that restaurant sticks around is anyone's guess. The entire property that houses the restaurant, a gift shop, parking lot as well as the wooded area behind 3 E Grand Avenue is for sale. A buyer could view the property in a different light.
