Shared on social media, Great Wall Buffet in Augusta, Maine, has announced plans to close permanently.
The restaurant shared a heartfelt thank you with those that have visited the buffet over the last two decades.
The restaurant itself has been a staple in the Augusta since almost the moment it opened. People have been willing to travel to visit as Great Wall has been the only traditional Chinese food buffet in the area.
Great Wall Buffet will close permanently on April 20.

While dozens of regular customers to the Great Wall Buffet shared their disappointment about the closure, many commenters had the same question.
Why is this restaurant closing?
The Great Wall Buffet does not own the real estate where the restaurant operates. That real estate recently changed hands and the new ownership has different plans for the spot.
The building and surround land where Great Wall Buffet currently sits will reportedly be transforming into a housing FGC location offering sober living for those in recovery.
