The First Diner Guy Fieri Ever Visited is a 2-Hour Drive from Maine
There have been more than 400 episodes of the infamous Food Network show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Over the course of all those years, host Guy Fieri has gotten to taste the best of the best from coast to coast, from meals he's familiar with to meals that were brand new to him.
While Fieri hasn't visited New England a ton over the course of those episodes, his visits to the region have been impactful. Years and years after his visits to both Maine and New Hampshire, people are still chasing down those places to try some of his favorite meals ever.
But there was also a piece of Guy Fieri history made in New England. According to Delish, the first-ever diner visited by Guy Fieri on 'Diners, Drive-ins and Dives' was in New England. It was Kelly's Diner in Somerville, Massachusetts. It's a place that looks and feels the part.
The diner itself is more than 70 years old. As Fieri showcased on his episode of 'Diners, Drive-ins and Dives', when you step inside the two-piece dining car, it feels like you're being transported back in time like a scene from 'Back to the Future'.
The menu is exactly what you'd expect from an old school diner as well. From breakfast standards to lunch platters (including liver and onions) as well as a robust list of daily specials, Kelly's has remained relevant rather than a relic.
Kelly's Diner is about a 2-hour drive from Portland, Maine. The diner is open seven days per week. Kelly's is a cash-only establishment.
