It came as a shock when it happened in March of 2025 and for a lot of people in Portland, Maine, they're still not over it.

That's when the very popular HiFi Donuts announced they planned to "temporarily close". The business and the landlord couldn't come to terms on a brand new lease for the space.

HiFi Donuts had hoped to continue on at another location but that never came to fruition.

Meanwhile, their old space has sat dormant for well over a year until some new signage popped up this week.

That signage showcases a new vintage shop called Winnie's opening at City Center.

Winnie's promises to be home to vintage clothing, antiques, jewelry and more. Winnie's door signage also proclaims the store will buy, sell and trade.

Winnie's website doesn't list an exact grand opening date but it does appear the store will be opening in the not-too-distant future.

Small Market Recently Closed Permanently in Portland, Maine

Right around the corner from Winnie's and across from the Portland House of Music, Milly's Market had operated for the last year.

The small grocery and convenience store and market closed permanently last week, alerting customers that they had gone out of business with a handwritten note across the door.

Milly's had opened last July at 41 Temple Street on the ground floor of Portland's tallest building, The Casco.
