Hot Toys' plan to ruin the bank accounts of every Batman fan around the world continues with the official announcement of the life size Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Batman statue. Following hot on the heels of the Armored Batman version, this one shows off the Batfleck in his more traditional crime-fighting costume from the upcoming film. It's also the second full-size piece Hot Toys will release for sale, and is an indication that the Superman and Wonder Woman (with "real" hair) will follow later this year.

I have to admit, I'm coming around on this suit. Maybe it's the unrelenting media coming at me from all angles promoting Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but this duct tape and ACE bandage costume is starting to grow on me. I'm still not 100% on this thing, and it does have a texture a little too close to Superman's Kryptonian garb, but I no longer hate it. Baby steps.

The 6'4" Batman (over 7' tall including the light-up base) is a massive brute, and is sculpted to capture the Dark Knight as portrayed by Ben Affleck. You can only really see the jawline of the actor present, but I suppose it's accurate. When you're paying upwards of $7000 for one of these things, I should hope that it gets the little details like the face right. It certainly gets all the costuming details spot on, but no matter how authentic this statue is, the eyes look a bit lifeless.

Unlike the smaller version, the batsuit doesn't look like they jammed a 240 lbs man into a garbage bag. That's the advantage of sculpting the entire thing and not trying to put an action figure body inside a fabric suit. The 1/6 scale iteration left very little to the imagination, but at least here Hot Toys didn't imagine Batman as a hobo monster that lurks in the alleys of Gotham. He actually looks like a superhero. I just wish that the pose they put him in wasn't so judgmental. To a degree, I get it. Batman's a judgey dude. If I had this guy looking at me from across the room all day though, I might start confessing to things I didn't even do.

There's no pre-order or release details yet, but we'll update this post when Sideshow Collectibles has more news.

Update: The 7' tall Batman is now available for pre-order for $7499.99, and is expected to release between August and October.
