Is Comedian Chelsea Handler Thinking of Moving to Maine?
We constantly and consistently have some type of celebrity presence that pops up in New England -- whether it's A-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence shooting their new Netflix original Don't Look Up in Boston, Tom Bergeron hanging around Portsmouth, New Hampshire, since he used to work there, or Patrick Dempsey returning home to Maine. They're ALWAYS here.
Chelsea Handler in Maine
Some visit a lot more often than others, though, and not just for their own concert tour or comedy show tour. This past Saturday, comedian Jo Koy was booked at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland as part of his Just Kidding World Tour. There was no real talk beforehand of any opening comics and none listed on the websites for the Arena or Jo Koy himself.
Which is why the crowd in attendance was absolutely shocked when after the opening comic finished up his set, the emcee announced a surprise special guest who was a New York Times Best Selling Author and a list of other accolades and introduced Chelsea Handler, who performed a good 15-minute or so set. It was an unexpected preview of November 18, when she'll bring her Vaccinated and Horny Tour to the Merrill.
Aside from her random pop up in Portland this past Saturday, Chelsea spent Labor Day Weekend in Maine last year, rumored to have visited the northern tip of the state, possibly Madawaska, although that wasn't confirmed.
Chelsea Handler and Jo Koy dating?
It's also possible that Chelsea wasn't just in Maine because she loves it here, but the latest rumor is that she's actually dating fellow comedian, Jo Koy. In fact, according to Entertainment Tonight, Chelsea mentioned that she's in fact in love "with the best kind of man there is" while appearing in multiple posts on Jo's Instagram account.
So, odds are she was in Portland being a supportive girlfriend and taking in all the time possible with the man she's reportedly in love with. But that doesn't mean that down the line, based on all the time she's spent in Maine in the last year and even in a recent interview mentioned how much she loves it here, that if/when Jo and Chelsea are ready to bail from the hustle and bustle of the West Coast, they couldn't settle into the 207!
