A 65-year-old Maine man is dead following a Thursday morning crash in Athens.

According to the KJ, James Troy passed away on Thursday when the pickup he was driving crashed into a ditch on Chapman Ridge Road.

According to Somerset County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell, the call for the crash came in at about 9:30 on Thursday morning.  When first responders arrived at the scene, they found James Troy deceased in his truck.

Through the course of their investigation, members of law enforcement believe that Troy was driving south in his 2007 Ford F-150 when he overcorrected and drove into the ditch.

Law enforcement is still trying to determine what caused Troy to swerve.  Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.  James Troy was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened.

Our thoughts go out to James Troy's family and friends in this trying time.
