Even though the state has its fair share of crime, Maine has always been thought of as a safe place to live.

This is especially true when you compare it to more urbanized states like Massachusetts, New York, and California.

Maine is a state filled with small towns.  Even our biggest city is no larger than the small towns of other states.  In these towns are, for the most part, honest people who want to be part of a community.  They live their lives and look out for others.  In some ways, Maine is just one big small town of 1.3 million people.

A recent article from WMTW found that Maine had the lowest violent crime rate in the nation.  In 2022, there were only 103.3 violent crimes per 100,000 people in Maine.  By comparison, the national average was 380.7 crimes per 100,000 people.

However, sometimes bad things do happen in Maine.

The disappearance of Westbrook’s Sebastian Kelley

According to a post on the Maine State Police Facebook page, Kelley was last seen in Westbrook on July 17, 2017.

The post describes him as...

...a light-skinned black male, 5'11", 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo that reads "Willow Grace" on his neck.

The post goes on to explain that all investigative efforts have failed to locate him.

If you know anything that can help the Maine State Police locate Sebastian Kelley, you can call them at 207.657.5710.

You can also leave an anonymous tip HERE.

It is important to note that, as far as we know, there is no evidence of foul play in his disappearance.  However, people typically don't just go missing.  Also, WGME reported that Kelley had been assaulted about 18 months before his disappearance.

Do you know anything that can help locate him?
