Car Plows Into Maine Business in Dramatic, Explosive-Like Crash
Late Thursday night, April Caron, who is the owner of The Once More Store in Lewiston, got a message from a customer, letting her know there was an emergency at her shop.
April checked the cameras, and she discovered that a car had crashed directly into the building, according to WGME, News Channel 13.
According to the report, the impact was a severe collision that caused an explosion-like effect.
April mentioned the extensive damage, with glass shards everywhere.
Fortunately no one was hurt in this incident, located at 1480 Lisbon Street in Lewiston.
WGME posted a YouTube short video featuring April describing the crash here.
The Once More Store has been catering to the public for 13 years, and serves Mamas with young children and offers things like clothes, shoes, toys, and more. The vehicle crashed into the area where the cash registers are normally set up, a space usually occupied by Caron's daughter and her two infant children, one of whom is just three weeks old.
This business serves as April's only source of income, and she is concerned how this is going to affect things moving forward.
According to the article, April has shared her gratitude that no one was hurt, but also mentioned the potential dangers, considering her daughter and grandchildren could have been in harm's way. It's a very frightening situation.
The Lewiston shop suffered substantial loss in inventory, with bags of items outside covered in glass pieces and debris.
In the interim, April will provide her shoppers with curbside orders. However, a lot of foster families come to grab supplies here, so the community is certainly in need of this special business (especially the children).
A GoFundMe page has been created for the public to offer assistance to this locally-owned shop. The goal is $10,000, and so far, $240.00 has been raised. If you're interested in helping, please visit her GoFundMe page.
