One of my favorite things about traveling is finding experiences that feel different from the usual tourist stops, and the floating sauna near The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport definitely fits into that category.

It is one of those places that instantly catches your attention because it combines relaxation, beautiful scenery, and something a little unexpected all in one experience. Instead of being inside a typical spa, this sauna sits directly on the water, making it feel completely different from anything most people have tried before.

What makes it stand out is not just the sauna itself, but everything around it. Guests can relax while looking out at the Kennebunk River, watching boats pass by and taking in views that are constantly changing with the tides and the light. It almost feels like you are in the middle of the scenery instead of just looking at it.

The location is honestly one of the best parts because it is so beautiful. The classic Maine coastal views already make it feel peaceful, but seeing the lighthouse right nearby makes it even more special. It gives the whole experience that picture-perfect New England feeling and makes it feel like something straight out of a postcard.

What also makes the floating sauna interesting is the contrast between the warmth inside and the cold Maine air outside. Some people even take a cold plunge before stepping back into the heat. It feels relaxing while also adding a little adventure, creating an experience that people remember long after visiting Kennebunkport.

Experiences like this are what make a trip memorable because sometimes it is the unexpected places that end up becoming your favorite part.
