When it comes to tracking and following weather patterns, I'm a bit of a nerd. Now, just to be clear, I know really nothing behind the science of weather or what it takes to track and predict weather. I just take other people's information and regurgitate it in a different way.

Okay, now that we've established that I'm basically a moron, let's dive in and take a look at recently published predictive temperature trends from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

After seeing that some US states were predicted to have a much cooler than normal spring, I wondered if Maine and New England were going to follow suit. To be honest with you, I was really only curious to see if we would get some good early-season motorcycling weather.

What I found was that not only is Maine not going to follow suit with cooler-than-normal temps like some of the other southern states, but Maine is actually looking to be warmer than normal- but by how much?

That's where NOAA comes in. According to the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, all of New England is slated to be warmer than usual this spring. They are reporting that due to shifts in the tradewinds and jet streams, warmer than normal air is to be expected from Pennsylvania north this spring.

Their estimates show that this trend is likely through the end of April, as they typically only work on three month trends. The chances of Maine and New England being warmer than normal is close to 60%. That's a pretty good chance if you ask me.

But just how warm will Maine get over the next several months? Well the jury is still out on that one. While we don't know what the specific day-to-day temperatures will be, what we DO know is that there is a strong likelihood that it will be warmer than normal.
