Opened in November, This Cozy Gym-and-Café Combo Is Brewing Something Special in China, Maine
There’s nothing like finishing a great lift, heart still pounding, and walking a few steps over for a hot breakfast sandwich and a fresh cup of coffee. That post-workout hunger hits different, and now, in China, Maine, there’s finally a place built exactly for that.
In the small town of China, Maine, a new spot has quickly started to feel like it’s always been there: Nash’s Café. After opening in early November (right alongside Nash’s Gym in the renovated Legion Memorial Drive building), it brought something the area didn’t really have, a cozy, local café built for everyday life, not just quick stop-and-go.
And here’s the hook: it’s connected to the gym. You truly get the best of both worlds, or at least the best of my world. Crush a workout, then head straight over for a breakfast sandwich, a smoothie, or a well-earned coffee. No driving across town. No rushing. Just lift, refuel, and relax.
Yes, you can grab coffee nearby. There’s a Dunkin’ on Route 3 in South China, and of course people can always pick up coffee while running errands at bigger stores. But Nash’s feels different on purpose: it’s small (a “quaint” café), friendly, and designed as a community hangout where you can slow down, chat, and actually enjoy your drink and bite to eat.
The menu leans into what locals want day-to-day, coffee plus smoothies, pastries, and simple breakfast-and-lunch options, making it the kind of place you can build into a routine. Morning lift? Breakfast sandwich after. Afternoon workout? Smoothie and a coffee to go. Even if you’re not hitting the gym, it’s the kind of cozy spot that makes you want to stay awhile.

In a town where options can feel spread out, Nash’s Café isn’t just new, it’s a needed little upgrade to daily life, one cup (and one workout) at a time.
Honestly, it’s just what China needed.
