Did You Feel the Little Earthquake Along the Maine & NH Border?
Have you ever felt an earthquake?
I've felt a couple over the years, but nothing serious. And I'm actually quite thankful for that. I've seen enough disaster movies over the years, and learned enough about the San Francisco earthquake back in 1906, that I never want to be anywhere near one. I enjoy how protected we feel up here in Maine.

But still, we get small ones every now and then. Sometimes even slightly larger ones. Not so large that we have much to worry about, but it does kind of hammer home how bad it could get. In fact, Mainers living along the New Hampshire border felt a bit of a rumble on Sunday/Monday night.
The towns of Upton, ME and Errol, NH felt a bit of a rumble.
Folks on the Maine/NH border in these towns on the shores of Umbagog Lake, reported feeling a small 2.1 magnitude earthquake. It was just after midnight on Monday morning, when things started to shake. Now, a 2.1 isn't really anything to be concerned about. It feels pretty much like a big truck going by.
It probably won't even rattle the dishes in the cupboard. At best, it might make your dog pick it's chin up off it's bed, and that's about it. On the other hand, it's a gentle reminder that in other parts of the country/world, earthquakes are a serious issue. Earthquakes can often trigger tsunamis and other seismic issues.

According to WMTW, the last time we had an earthquake of at least 2.0 was back at the end of July in the Gardiner area. That one was actually a 2.8, which is actually quite a bit stronger. It doesn't sound like much, but I bet they felt that one plenty. A little shake, rattle, and roll for the state's capital ain't bad. As long as there's no Great Balls of Fire...
