Why Families Are Escaping to This Hidden Beach in Freeport, Maine

If you think Freeport is just outlet shopping and L.L.Bean, you’re missing one of the sweetest little summer spots in Maine.

Sitting pretty away from all those shopping and tourists and crowds is a sandy ocean beach that feels like a reward for moms who just want one easy day with the kids.

No endless drive up the coast. No bumper-to-bumper Route 1 traffic. No fighting for a parking spot near packed tourist beaches.

Instead? Warm sand, calm Casco Bay water, and plenty of room for little feet to splash. The real trick is timing your visit with the tides. Head over at low tide if your kids love hunting for shells, tiny crabs, and tide pools.

Honestly, I don't even know what this beach is called. but it's beautiful, sandy, with water that’s perfect for swimming and playing especially when you visit during high tide. 

If you’re looking for a beach that’s family-friendly without the long drive to some of Maine’s bigger coastal destinations, this is one worth adding to your summer list.

Sometimes the best Maine memories aren’t found at the busiest beaches, they’re hiding just around the corner from the places everyone else is rushing to.
