New Ranking Says Maine is the Safest Place to Live in America
If you've ever tried to explain Maine to someone from out of state, you probably know the conversation. It goes mainly like this..
“Isn’t it cold?”
“Are there really moose everywhere?”
“Do you eat lobster every day?”
But now you can add another bragging point to the list.
According to a recent ranking share on Instagram by Daily Rank Department, Maine was named the safest state in America!
Even ahead of other safe states like New Hampshire, Vermont, Utah, and Idaho.
The ranking looked at all kinds of factors, including levels of crime rates, overall safety, and quality of life, and Maine came out on top.
Honestly, is anyone here surprised? I’m not. And I know what you’re going to say, it’s not as safe as it used to be here.. Yes, but it’s still much safer than the other American states.
For years, Mainers have enjoyed the kind of lifestyle that people across the country are searching for.
We do have those charming small towns where neighbors still know each other by first name. And our communities show up for each other when something terrible happens. That is truly what makes our state so wonderful, the people.
Maine Named the Safest State in America

But like I previously stated, if you compare it to most of the country, Maine stands out as a place where people feel comfortable raising families, exploring nature, and building their lives together.
The ranking sparked a ton of discussion online, especially from people debating where their own state landed, but for Mainers, it felt like a pretty great reminder of something so many of us already knew.
Sometimes we take it for granted.
