Clayton Sulak is from Chicago and started Mary's Smokehouse as a combo business because it made sense. He has been open for a couple of years and wanted a unique approach to get people into his place. The place on Brunswick Road in Richmond, Maine was dilapidated and he turned it into a combo business!

Clayton told the Press Herald that the building dated back to the pre-Civil War era. It's been a general store and a bar and it took five years to renovate it. He had to deal with horsehair-plastered walls and a collapsed roof. Plus the outside needed a ton of work. He took his time because he didn't have a ton of money.

Clayton told the Press Herald that patients can leave one smokehouse for another. Grab your medical cannabis and then have some homemade brisket, chicken and waffles, smoked pork, and homemade maple or blueberry ice cream. And no, he doesn't mix the two businesses, so no food has any cannabis. It's worked for him because when one business is slow, the other will cover for it. The two sides 'support each other'.
