We all remember that iconic line from the legendary movie, “Do you want to build a snowman?”

Mostly, because the movie was streaming on an endless loop in your living room because the kiddos were obsessed with it, right?

But let us rewind back to February of 2008, long before the song ever existed and the urge to build a large snowman came from the mind.

Built by a Small Town, Loved by the World

This specific magical snowman has held the Guinness Book of World Records spot as the World's Tallest Snowman, for just under 20 years now.

According to Bangor Daily News, this wasn’t your average run of the mill three balls of snow piled on top of each other with a few carrots and a hat.

This was a large feat as it took the small town of Bethel to come together and undertake this monumental snowman.

Volunteers and residents spent about a month, shaping, piling, and gathering the snow into a giant, snow-woman they named, "Oympia" in honor of the previous Senator, Olympia Snowe.

Check out her beauty from Travel and Transition via YouTube, below.

Guess how many pounds of snow they used? 13 million pounds! They built her up to a staggering 122 feet tall. How? According to Bangor Daily News, it was simple they just layered the snow in concentric rings, compacted, and lifting it with cranes, no biggy.

The carrot nose was hand painted by school kids, along with the 48 foot hat. And the best part, are the arms, in my opinion. Yes, you are seeing two 30 foot spruce trees for arms. The eyelashes were pretty impressive, made out of skis.

And get this, as per the article, an engineer supervised the build to make sure it was structurally sound and safe.

Olympia did eventually melt, but her beauty will stick in history by Guinness World Records as the tallest snowperson ever created on 26 February 2008.
