Scarborough Intersection Getting A Big Change For Drivers
If you travel regularly in Scarborough, Maine, don't be surprised when you come to this intersection and find that the traffic flow has changed.
Broadturn and Burnham Road
This is the intersection that is getting changed, as it is seen on Google Maps. The intersection of Broadturn and Burnham roads. You should know right out of the gate that it's a major change; however, it won't take long, unlike the traffic lights that are being installed on Route 302 and Albion Road in Windham.

More Stop Signs Coming
This is the intersection in question, taken by Google Maps on Burnham Road, where there are currently stop signs on Burnham at the intersection. There are even signs there to remind people that traffic on Broadturn Road does not stop. There are no stop signs. But that's about the change.
4-Way Stop
The Scarborough Police Department posted a notice on its Facebook page letting drivers know the intersection of Broadturn and Burnham roads will have stop signs in all directions once they are installed on Tuesday, August 12th. Known mostly in Maine as 4-way stop signs or in other parts of the country as an "all-way" stop sign.
Not only will there be new stop signs installed, but there will also be flashing warning lights. My guess is that the Maine DOT will likely install stop signs that have blinking lights around their border. They are solar-powered and get your attention, which is needed with a major change in traffic patterns.
If you haven't seen what one looks like, here's a video that will get you familiar with what to expect.
Be careful travelling through this intersection as some drivers may not realize the change and could blow through a stop sign. Stay alert!
