Slam Tilt Records + Games Brings Nostalgia To Brunswick, Maine
You remember when you were a kid, and had a music collection on vinyl, played Nintendo non-stop, and would drop a couple of quarters into the pinball machine at the local diner? All that and more is in Brunswick at the recently opened Slam Tilt Records + Games on Maine Street in Brunswick.
Where Does the Name "Slam Tilt" Come From?
If you've ever played pinball, you are probably aware that you can shake the machine to alter the path of the silverball on the playfield. It's called "nudging" and it's a skill that, once you are good at, will score you more points by not losing the ball.
A slam tilt, however, is when you take it too far. Pinball owners don't want their machines damaged, so if you nudge aggressively hard or slam your fist into the coin door, your game ends immediately, thanks to a sensor inside. It seemed like the perfect name for this new endeavour.
If you're into pinball, tournaments are held there regularly.
This Will Take You Back
Owner Joe Hinkle has put a lot of time and effort into this one-stop location for fun, games, and nostalgia. Slam Tilt Records + Games is like going back in time to the days of the VCR, record player, and the NES.
Atari Age
If you want to go back even further in time, you'll find Atari consoles and games for sale. I remember how excited I was at seven years old and opened up a Christmas present to find an "Atari Computer System." This was 1977, and it wasn't called the Atari 2600 until the Atari 5200 came along.
