Bangor, Maine, Area Youth Choirs Pay Tribute to Lewiston on ‘The Nite Show With Danny Cashman’
Lewiston and the entire state of Maine are still grieving over the tragedy that unfolded on October 25, when Robert Card shot and killed 18 people in the deadliest mass shooting in the country this year. We think, "This doesn't happen in Maine," and it breaks our hearts that such a thing happened in places we know and love in our state.
Since the tragedy, Mainers have come together like never before by being there for the victims and families to lend a hand, whether through fundraising or lending a shoulder to cry on. We all want to help in whatever way we can, and Mainers have done so in spades.
Sometimes, even simple things like music can help us as we get through this.
The Nite Show With Danny Cashman is a late-night talk show recorded in Bangor at the Gracie Theater on the Husson University campus, and can be seen on local TV stations across the state.
The show returned to the air for the first time since the tragedy in Lewiston. Mainers have been there to lend a hand and be supportive. Show creator and host Dan Cashman wanted to find a way to do the same by paying tribute to the victims, families, and residents of Lewiston. He invited the Bangor Youth Choirs to the show to perform a song to let Lewiston know that we stand strong with them.
Dan was emotional just before introducing the choir, and who could blame him?
"One of the things that heals better than anything else is music," he said. "And we thought it was appropriate to start tonight's show with a performance from the Bangor Area Youth Choirs."
Full episodes of The Nite Show With Danny Cashman can be seen Saturday nights at 11:30 on WABI TV5 in Bangor, after FOX23 News at Ten in Portland, and late night Saturdays at 1 a.m. on WGME CBS13 in Portland.
