Fluffernutter Sandwiches

If you know, you know, and generally you have to be from or in New England at some point in your life to know -- fluffernutter sandwiches are a way of life.

According to NewEngland.com, the fluffernutter was first invented in Somerville, Massachusetts, in the early-to-mid 1900s when residents took a local man's door-to-door sold marshmallow creme concoction, combined it with peanut butter on bread, and combined the names of fluff and peanut butter.

The rest is history.

Fluffernutter Ingredients

Making a fluffernutter obviously couldn't be more simple, since the recipe was pretty much already just referenced. But it's the finesse that matters.

Take two slices of bread -- and the bread is important. It can't just be any bread. Some kind of split top white or wheat bread only -- any other type of bread, and it's not a true fluffernutter.

Take a massive glob of peanut butter (crunchy, smooth -- the choice is yours) and spread it on every possible centimeter of one of the pieces of bread. Take an even more massive glob of Marshmallow Fluff, and spread it on the other piece, covering every possible centimeter of bread again.

Combine, eat, and enjoy! Just don't do what this radio station employee did.

Offensive Maine Fluffernutter

Recently, on a popular Maine radio station's social media, a picture of what was described as a version of a fluffernutter was posted by an employee, referencing their use of sunflower butter as opposed to peanut butter due to a food allergy.

Immediately, pure and true Mainers and New Englanders voiced their concern and opinions on what was eventually considered a horribly offensive and downright inappropriate photo.

The above pictured bulkie roll and half-hearted spreading techniques of both the sunflower butter and fluff, along with the lack of the correct amount of Fluff, were immediately called out by the offended viewers, spawning a lightning-fast response by the radio station.

We are truly sorry you were subjected to such offensive and inappropriate content. Please rest assured this employee’s social media rights have been revoked immediately. Furthermore, there will be a disciplinary meeting to address this matter when our offices open for operations.

More details will be provided as this horribly inappropriate story develops.
