Some places, like Great Wall Buffet in Augusta and Sam's in Freeport, had been around for decades, while spots like Novel Book Bar and Cafe in Portland were only open a few years.

These aren't the first Maine restaurants to close, and they certainly won't be the last.

Things like retirement, finances, moves, and other circumstances can impact a business, whether it's been around forever or only just a little bit.

So while we can certainly be sad these places are no more, we can continue to remember all the good times when they were here. Long live the memories of good food and good times.
