The house known as the "candy cottage" in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, has a big price tag for such a tiny property.
Seacoast Online says that this 320-square-foot little cottage home is back up for sale for a bargain at $699,000.
For 320-square-feet? Yup. And that's down from its asking price of $2 million in 2019.
This 84-year-old home has only one bedroom and one bathroom. How does this list for millions only to drop to around $700,000?
Great Island Realty told Seacoast Online that its longtime owner subdivided the lot last year, so the price dropped.
The listing for the 445 Marcy Street house says,

It's gotten a lot of attention because it IS so tiny, with a huge price tag. It used to be a candy shop that the locals called the "Lil House" decades ago. After subdiving the land, the house sits on .14 acres.
The Great Island Realty agent Emil Uliano told Seacoast Online,
What we have marketed is a very adorable small home, which would be great if someone loves it as is, but it also has potential for renovations or some larger work.
There is an opportunity for redevelopment according to the listing, but you'd need to get the OK from Portsmouth’s Historic District Commission first.

This one-story cottage was valued at $687,300 at the last assessment. That puts the property taxes over $11,000 as of 2023. This property is not for the weak-hearted.
