Massachusetts Chocolate Expo Happening This Weekend With Special Guests
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Some may know the movie from the 2005 reboot starring Johnny Depp playing the role of Willy Wonka...
...but before there was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, there was the OG original movie referencing chocolate rivers, everlasting gobstoppers, and golden ticketed Wonka bars.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
Released over 50 years ago in 1971 and starring Gene Wilder as the very unique Chocolate King, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory became iconic for introducing us to oompa loompas, "the girl that turned into an actual blueberry" (Veruca Salt -- the character, not the rock band), and "the kid that got stuck in the pipe" (Augustus Gloop).
And while the Johnny Depp version is now the version that's seen airing most randomly on television, cast members from the OG version are making their way to Massachusetts this weekend for an event that is right up their alley.
The Chocolate Expo in Wilmington, Massachusetts
Held in various cities and states throughout the country, The Chocolate Expo was first held in Albany, New York in 2006, and ever since, has grown into massive events held throughout the year, throughout the US.
According to The Chocolate Expo Facebook page, when the Massachusetts event is held at Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington this Saturday and Sunday, January 27 and 28, there will be over 90 vendors offering not only tastings and sales of chocolate, but other specialty foods, craft beverages, and more, including the reuniting of some cast members of the OG Willy Wonka movie.
The actors that played the original Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Mike TeeVee, and the most famous Oompa Loompa in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory will all be in attendance for The Chocolate Expo in Wilmington, and tickets are still on sale on the official Chocolate Expo website.
