The New England Patriots would probably like to forget Monday night's game as soon as possible, after being significantly outplayed in a 33-14 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Chicago quarterback Justin Fields had one of his best games in his young career, finishing with 179 passing yards, 83 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. He absolutely owned the defense, especially with his ability to keep the play alive.

The Patriots had zero answers all night long for the Bears offense, a unit that managed to score just 9 points against the Washington Commanders the week before.

The offense wasn't much better for New England, which saw the return of Mac Jones at quarterback. However, this didn't last long, as Jones would be benched following an ugly interception early in the 2nd quarter.

Folk hero Bailey Zappe came in and gave the Patriots a quick injection of life. He engineered two straight touchdown drives, but that would pretty much do it for the evening. The Bears defense bottled Zappe up for the rest of the half and deep into the 4th quarter to help seal up the commanding victory.

A lot of questions need to be answered for the Patriots before the next game, especially after this miserable defensive performance. Plus, there's no question the quarterback controversy will continue on.

Next up for 3-4 New England is a road trip down to New Jersey to face the red-hot New York Jets. Yes, you read that correctly. The Jets come into the game with a 5-2 record, including four straight wins. The game will have a 1pm kickoff.
