Who doesn't love a delicious plate of nachos?

Honestly, what's not to love? It's crispy and warm tortilla chips covered in cheese, vegetables, beef, chicken, or really any protein, and perhaps even some chili. Then on top of that, there's salsa, hot sauce, guacamole, and sour cream to dip the handheld morsels into. It's the perfect food for any occasion. In fact, they have been my go-to Friday meal during Lent (vegetarian, of course) for years.

So, who has the best nachos around? One national website says it's a restaurant on Portland peninsula that has been a Mexican go-to for over a decade.

The popular foodies over at Love Food have given Maine's top nacho award to Taco Escobarr, a joint known for delicious tacos, tasty margaritas, and huge plates of nachos.

Taco Escobarr offers two delicious options for nachos. One is the "El Ninos" platter. That includes chips, queso chihuahua, queso fresco, pickled jalapenos, onions, Pico de Gallo, cilantro, and crema. This is just a monster plate of gooey, cheese, creamy goodness.

Then there's the "El Jefe's" platter. This one includes chips, red cabbage, pickled jalapenos, Pico de Gallo, queso fresco, queso chihuahua, cilantro, onion, and crema. It's nearly the same, but with more freshness and crunch with the red cabbage.

Both plates include options for one of their many delicious styles of meat and guacamole. And it really doesn't matter what you choose, they are all incredible.

This is some great publicity for a Maine small business that continues to thrive. Love Food is such a great resource for both tourists and locals to find the best spots around, and they absolutely hit it out of the park with this selection.

However, it's not just the nachos that shine. Taco Escobarr's entire menu, including the giant burritos, are worth an order. Believe me when I say, you will not be hungry when you leave.
