Many of us have experienced the frustration of leaving something in our travel bags by accident, only to have it confiscated by TSA at the airport.

I'm not talking about the recent stories of bullets or firearms confiscated on the islands, just the normal stuff we all might have in our bags at some point.

I was flying out of Boston's Logan International Airport once, with a gift for my uncle, an engraved brass letter opener.  The problem was I left it in my carry on, not in my checked bag.

Of course it was taken out and tossed into a big bin of items by TSA.  They were just doing their job, but I wonder if that letter opener ever made its way to someone with the same "MBB" initials.

Do you wonder what happens the thousands of pounds of good stuff seized by airport authorities or simply left on airplanes?

Thrillist.com has an answer. I always thought items were thrown away, but that's not the case.

The items get sold in bulk at an online auction site.  There are some great items on the site, like phone chargers, air pods, watches, headphones, jewelry and all kinds of electronics. As you can imagine, there are plenty of pocket knifes and box cutters too.

It's crazy the amount of items left behind in seat backs or taken by airport security gates.

I have left airpods, expensive headphones, ipods (back in the day), and countess other items in seatbacks, due to distractions by kids or simple fatigue as I was exiting the plane.  You know what I am talking about.

Here's the site where you can get some sweet deals by the pound. Go to govdeals.com then search "TSA" and the bulk deals will pop up.  Happy shopping in bulk.
