It's no secret that we have a loud and proud foodie population here in New England, and with good reason.

Countless magazines, websites, and digital platforms have written about our diverse and delicious food scene. Reader's Digest named Lexie's Joint as the best place for burgers in the state, Travel Pulse recognized the Puritan Backroom in Manchester for their iconic chicken wings, and the New York Times featured several New England restaurants on their prestigious Restaurant List.

Now, we're turning our attention to Allrecipes.com. Speaking from experience, the food-focused website is a home cook's paradise. There are thousands of recipes to peruse, whether you're an expert looking for a new culinary challenge, or a kitchen amateur looking for something quick and simple.

As it turns out, Allrecipes also has insights on the top signature recipes in each US state, and their verdict for New Hampshire is confusing, to say the least.

Shared by @Debbie2, this popular clam chowder recipe is the most popular in the Granite State with 4.5/5 stars and over 700 reviews at the time of this writing.

Now, here's the thing. Clam chowder is a classic New England meal, so it's not mind-boggling to see it mentioned. However, why is it New Hampshire's signature dish, and not Maine's? According to Eater.com, chowder is known for being an iconic dish in Maine, but instead, Allrecipes has confirmed Maine's signature dish to be Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread. Delicious? Yes. Quintessential Maine? No.

As for New Hampshire, what do you think their signature dish should be? Pancakes with real New Hampshire maple syrup, perhaps? Let us know your thoughts.
